Most famous among the schemes are the old age and widow pension schemes in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Tiruppur, Erode, Tirunelveli, Tiruvallur Tamil Nadu. Eligibility Criteria for Old Age Pension:
- The age of the applicant must be over 60 years.
- The applicant must be below the poverty line.
- He or she must not have any earning member in the family.
- The total value of their property must not cross INR 5000.

- The age of the widow must be over 18 years.
- She must be below the poverty level and must not have any earning member present in her family.
- The total value of her property must not cross INR 5000.
Application Process for Old Age Pension in Tamil Nadu:
- Download the application form by clicking the link http://nsap.nic.in/nsap/nsap_legacy.html.
- The form can be downloaded according to the place the applicant is living in like rural or urban.
- Fill up the application form and attach all required documents with it.
- Submit the application form to the office of the Social Welfare Department.
- Your pension will be started after verification and approval.
- The pension amount will be INR 400 till 80 years. After 80 years, it will increase to INR 700.
Application Process for Widow Pension in Tamil Nadu:

- Fill up the application form and submit to your nearest Social Welfare Department office.
- Pension will start after verification and approval.
- The amount of pension will be INR 700.
