The documental proof that two people are married is the marriage certificate. The registration of the marriages in India can either be done under the Hindu Marriage act of 1955 or it can be done under the special marriage act of 1954. For the protection of woman in India, Supreme Court has made the marriage registration mandatory in 2006. Here we will describe both online and offline process to apply for a marriage certificate.
Online process to apply for marriage certificate in New Delhi:
- First of all, you need to copy and paste the link on your browser or you can click on it to apply online https://edistrict.delhigovt.nic.in/
- You need to choose your district over there.
- Now, you have to fill the details of Husband and have to choose ‘Registration of Marriage Certificate’.
- There you will get a Marriage Certificate form. Fill that up correctly. Choose an appointment date.
- After doing all of that click on ‘Submit Application’.
- After the completion of submission, you will be provided a temporary number which will be mentioned in the acknowledgment slip.
- Take a print out of the acknowledgment slip.
- In the case of hindu marriage act, the date of appointment will given in 15 days but in case of special marriage act the date will be given in 30 days.
- On the appointment date both had to be present before the ADM along with a gazetted officer and the witnesses.
- They will get the certificate on the same date.
Offline process to apply for marriage certificate in New Delhi:
- First of all, you need to visit the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate of your area and fill up an application form. You will get the form there.
- The form must be filled correctly and must be signed by both husband and wife.
- Submit the form attached with all the appropriate documents like photograph, Aadhaar Card, Proof of birth, etc.
- All the details will be verified before giving you an appointment date for the registration.
- On the appointment date both had to be present before the ADM along with a gazetted officer and the witnesses.
- They will get the certificate on the same date.
