Voter ID card is one of the most important identity cards in India. It is majorly used for voting but most of the government institutes grant it as an identity proof. So, if there is some wrong information in it, it can cause trouble for you. There are processes for changing the details like name, address, or date of birth in a voter ID card. Online Process:
- First of all, visit the official website of National Voters Services Portal or you can just click on the link http://www.nvsp.in/.
- You will find a section there, ‘Correction of entries in electoral roll’. Click on that.
- A new page will open on your screen. Click on ‘Form 8’ on the page.
- You will be redirected to the page of voter id card correction.
- You need to enter some details in the form like-
- Your state and assembly or parliamentary constituency.
- Name, gender, age, serial number, and part number of the electoral roll.
- Family details like name of mother, father, or husband.
- The complete address must be entered.
- Details of the voter id card like card number, date of issue, and state of issue.
- Upload all supportive documents along with photograph, address proof, and ID proof. The list of documents is on the website.
- Now choose the details which you want to be changed like if you want to change the name, click on the tab named ‘My Name’.
- Enter the name of the place or city.
- Mention the date of the request.
- You need to provide proper contact information like email id or mobile number.
- After all done, click on submit.
- The verification of all the documents will be done.
- After successful verification, you will get the voter id card with changed details from your nearest electoral office.
Offline Process:
- First of all, you need to download the form for changing the name, address, or date of birth from the official website of National Voters Services Portal.
- Fill up the form properly with correct details.
- Follow the instructions on how to change the name, address, or date of birth in the form.
- Attach proper documents along with photograph, address proof, and ID proof. The list of documents is on the website.
- Submit the form to your nearest electoral office.
- The verification of all the documents will be done.
- After successful verification, you will get the voter id card with changed details from your nearest electoral office.
