Election Commission of India issues voter identity card, also known as “Voter Registration Card” or an “Election Card” to Indian citizens which allows to cast votes and also acts as a proof for identity and address of Indian citizens. If you want to vote in any election whether it is parliamentary or state elections, you need to have a voter identity card; not only that but also your name should be on the electoral rolls. In a large country like India, election commission curbed electoral fraud cases by issuing this photo identity card. This ID card is also helping in improving the accurateness of the electoral roll. In India, it is mandatory to have voter ID first unless you cannot apply for a ration card.
How to check your name on the voter list:
If you are not sure whether your name has already been registered or not, you can search for your name in voter list by following these steps as mentioned below:
- If you want to check your voter ID card through the website then you need to log in to the official website of National Voters’ Service Portal or click on the link https://electoralsearch.in. Then you need to enter your personal details into that website or you can just enter your voter ID or EPIC number to that website and need to click on “Search.” Your name and other details will appear at the bottom of the website.
- You can also do that through mobile by sending SMS using mobile. If you want to check your name in the voter list, then go to your inbox and create a new message. Type EPIC (space) Your Voter ID number then send it to 7738299899.
- You can also check your name on the voter list through call center. For this, you need to call 1950 from your mobile or landline. The helpline executive will give you all the details.
If your name is missing from the voters’ list, you will not be allowed to cast your vote, so a quick check on the voter list is a must.
