The importance of a PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card is not hidden in today’s date. Everyone is aware of the role and significance of the PAN card in their day to day lives. So, verification of the PAN card is very important to keep it valid for all purposes.
The Income Tax Authorities have two main official websites in the name of UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL) and National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) for maintaining users’ services. The PAN card can be verified by the cardholder’s name or by PAN number. The steps to be followed are elaborated below.
Verify PAN Online on UTI
If your PAN card was issued by UTIITSL, you need to verify the PAN by following the steps enlisted below.
- Register yourself on UTI website (https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/PAN/).
- Choose the type of application.
- Enter the PAN number to reprint your application form.
- After entering the correct CAPTCHA code, your PAN Card verification status will be shown.
Verify PAN Online on NSDL
If your PAN card was issued by NSDL, you need to verify the PAN by by following the steps enlisted below.
Register yourself on NSDL website (https://www.tin-nsdl.com/).
- Choose the type of application.
- Then enter both the application number and the coupon number you had received earlier after form submission.
- Press on the submit button.
- You will have the status of PAN verification on the next page displayed.
There are few more ways of verifying your PAN i.e. Screen-based Verification, where users need to provide the PAN number to see the verification status, Software (API) based Verification, where you will verify your PAN through an application which is to be installed on your system, and lastly the File-based Verification, where required files are to be uploaded as per NSDL prescribed structure, then you will have to wait for 24 hours to get the status of the PAN verification.
